Folk traditions play a big part in my life
My parents met in a folk club run by my mother and grandmother, now my son is the fourth generation of my family to be singing traditional music. I've been running Redditch Folk Club since 2001 (ish) and am heavily implicated in the Redditch Mumming side.
Redditch Folk Club
The club has run for more than 30 years, in numerous venues with various organisers. At present it's a small club moving round the homes of its members and putting on big gigs a couple of times a year. The club is friendly, laid back and welcomes all kinds of playing. Visit us online here!
Mumming
Mumming is a traditional form of theatre. There isn't an authentic local script for the Redditch area, so I've been writing traditional-style plays for a few years now. In 2008 Sarah Morton joined the writing team. We perform at Forge Mill Museum and Arrow Valley Countryside centre at their various events, and go the BTMCs Christmas party. If you fancy booking us, get in touch!
Gigs
I'm an occasional performer, both alone and with The Coven - an all female, Mediaeval Baebes inspired outfit. Mostly I play locally, sometimes with other people. Currently I'm busking in Redditch on a regular basis. I'm open to suggestions. I play bouzouki, violin and viola, and I sing. There are some videos here on youtube.
